The Cholla Cactus garden is an area of the park in the pinto basin where teddybear cholla cactus naturally grow. There’s more than 300,000 teddybear cholla in this 10 acre area! These adorable cactus look friendly, but it’s important to stay on the trail here, otherwise you’ll be taking home an unwanted souvenir in the form of cactus spikes.

Arch Rock

Climbing up or under this granite arch with your sightseeing tour guide and learn how this natural arch formed. This backdrop would make the perfect family Christmas Card, just sayin’!

Skull Rock

As one of the most unique examples of erosion in the park, Skull Rock is must-see. This distinctive skull began to form when rainwater accumulated in small depressions in the granite. As time passed the rainwater ate away at the granite, deepening the natural depressions until they began to resemble hollowed-out eye sockets. No trip to the park is complete without a photo in front of the spooky rock.

Queen Valley

Enjoy the expansive Joshua Tree forest as you traverse through Queen Valley. As we travel along the dirt road running through this enchanting valley there will be plenty of great Joshua Tree photo opportunities. The valley also provides great views of Southern California’s Transverse Range mountains in the distance.

Ohlson House (Wonderland Ranch)

This old homestead will give you an idea of what life was like living in the harsh desert. Check out the artifacts of this old ranch house as you walk around its foundation, standing walls and well. Nearby, you’ll hear the story of the famous shootout between Bill Keys and poor old Sheriff Worth Bagley.

Cap Rock

This fun nature trail will allow you to stretch your legs and get some great views of the park’s granite and famous Joshua Trees. This is an alternate stop if parking at the Ohlson House is full.
